Counselling for Individuals

Welcome, and thank you for visiting my website.

I am a qualified counsellor, registered with the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy. As well as my own private practice, I have worked for a counselling service as a secondary school counsellor for a number of years.

MY APPROACH

My goal is to provide a supportive and safe space for individuals who are looking for mental health support to be able to overcome challenges and live a more fulfilled life.

I bring a non-judgemental approach and specialise in anxiety, stress, depression, anger, trauma, abuse, relationships, life stage challenges and bereavement.

SPEAK IN CONFIDENCE

I offer counselling in a safe space, where you can be listened to with sensitivity and empathy - and without judgement. Your thoughts and feelings can be expressed freely and in confidence.

A PROBLEM SHARED...

Are you experiencing trouble with a relationship; anxiety or panic attacks; mood swings or depression? - many people face difficulties in their everyday lives that can be hard to get on top of. Counselling gives us a set of tools that we can use to help gain a better understanding of what’s causing these problems - and how you can work towards managing or resolving them.

MAKE BETTER, HEALTHIER NEW CHOICES

Working together I can help you gain a greater understanding of the difficulties you are facing, enable you to have a better insight into why you act or react to them the way you do, and see how you can start to make better, healthier choices for yourself moving forward.

CONTACT ME

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works and to arrange an initial telephone call. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.

All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.

MY LOCATION

I work from a comfortable private room at Hedsor Golf Course. I welcome clients from nearby areas including Bourne End, Marlow, High Wycombe, Wooburn Green, Beaconsfield, Maidenhead, and across South Buckinghamshire.

Getting Started

Please feel free to make contact with me, we can have a brief telephone call where you can give me a topline overview of what you want to bring to counselling and you can get a sense of who I am and how I work.

If you are enquiring about services for a young person, please get in touch so I can talk you through the process.

As the sessions begin, we can start by understanding together what has brought you to counselling and what challenges you are trying to navigate your way through. I can then support you to learn more about yourself and how you might be able to build a more fulfilled life moving forward.

FEES & AVAILABILITY

I offer in-person therapy in a private room in Wooburn Common, Buckinghamshire. There is plenty of free parking.

I work with adults and young people (aged 11+) and I offer long and short term face to face counselling. My fees are £55.00 per hour.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How long will I need to have counselling?

It very much varies from person to person how long a period of counselling lasts and also depends on the depth of the issues they are experiencing. For some people a couple of sessions helps to bring some clarity to their problems, and they feel ready to move forward; other problems may take longer and require a more open-ended approach.

Before we begin any work we can discuss and agree on the number of sessions we’ll undertake, and at the end of that number review our progress. As long as we both agree further therapy will be of benefit to you, sessions can continue.

Will everything I say be kept confidential?

Everything that is said within the counselling room is private - this is one of the main ways that counselling differs from talking to a friend or relative. Once you are comfortable with the way the sessions work and the safe space they provide, you will find the freedom to speak in confidence is of great value.

Note that there are some situations where you may be a risk to yourself or others, if this happens I am required by law to notify an authority; in these cases I may not be able to keep total confidentiality. However, breaking confidentiality is very rare and would only happen after we had discussed this together.

Can I bring a friend or relative with me?

A key aspect of counselling is being able to talk freely about any issues that you feel are important to you. I completely understand that sometimes people feel anxious about entering into counselling and feel they need some support with this. Having someone else with you who may be connected to those issues can make opening-up more difficult and so for this reason, I do not meet with clients accompanied by friends or family.

When working with a young person under 18, I will usually ask the client and their parent or carer if they would like us all to meet for the first ten minutes of the initial session. If agreed, this can help establish the boundaries of the work we will be doing and give everyone a clear understanding of the confidentiality being offered.
